Arash Rashad, Professor of Entomology and Rui Wang, Post Doctorate,

Hessian flies have been challenging the PNW spring wheat production for decades. While in Idaho their presence has been primarily limited to northern part of the state, the fly was recently reported for the first time in southern Idaho in 2015. Moreover, Hessian fly damage has historically been associated with spring wheat. Significant damage is now being observed in winter wheat production. This presentation will be focused on introducing Hessian fly as a pest and provide information on integrate pest management (IPM) options, including pesticides for this pest.
